Report on the Remembrance of the Supreme Sacrifice of the Chaar Sahibzadas
30 Dec 2025
On 30 December 2025, Don Bosco Tech Jalandhar Centre observed a deeply moving and reflective programme to commemorate the supreme sacrifice of the Chaar Sahibzadas, the four sons of Guru Gobind Singh Ji. The event was organised with the objective of familiarising trainees with the rich legacy of Sikh history while inspiring them to imbibe timeless values of courage, faith, resilience, and selfless service.
The programme commenced with the sacred salutation, “Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh,” which set a solemn and spiritually uplifting tone for the gathering. The atmosphere was filled with reverence as trainees and staff came together to remember one of the most poignant chapters in Indian history.
Mr. Satinder Singh, ITES Trainer, addressed the trainees and provided a vivid and engaging account of the life of Guru Gobind Singh Ji and his family. He recounted the extraordinary bravery and unwavering faith of the Guru and his sons, narrating historical events with clarity and emotional depth. He described the prolonged siege of Anandpur Sahib, where the Sikhs endured nearly eight months of severe hardship, hunger, and deprivation, yet remained steadfast in their principles and trust in the divine.
He further explained how the Hill Kings and Mughal rulers betrayed Guru Gobind Singh Ji despite solemnly swearing oaths on holy scriptures. During the treacherous crossing of the Sarsa River, the Guru’s family was separated, leading to immense personal loss and sacrifice. Guru Gobind Singh Ji reached Chamkaur Sahib with only forty Sikhs and his two elder sons, where they faced an overwhelming Mughal force with unmatched courage. The battle resulted in the martyrdom of many brave Sikhs, including the two elder Sahibzadas, who laid down their lives while defending righteousness and justice.
The narrative then turned to the heart-wrenching sacrifice of Mata Gujri Ji and the two younger Sahibzadas. Captured by Wazir Khan, they were confined in the cold tower for three days and subjected to immense physical and mental suffering. Despite relentless pressure to renounce their faith, the young Sahibzadas displayed extraordinary spiritual strength and fearlessness. Their martyrdom, achieved through being bricked alive, stands as a powerful testament to unshakable faith and moral courage at an age when most children are still discovering the world.
Adding further depth to the programme, Ms. Twinkle Leer addressed the trainees and reflected on the enduring message behind the sacrifices of Guru Gobind Singh Ji’s family. She emphasised that the story of the Chaar Sahibzadas is not only a historical account but a guiding light for everyday life, teaching the importance of standing firm for truth, righteousness, and justice, even in the face of adversity.
To honour the supreme sacrifice, trainees of the current batch presented soulful devotional and patriotic songs that echoed the spirit of bravery, devotion, and fearlessness embodied by the Sahibzadas. Their heartfelt performances created a profound emotional connection and left a lasting impact on everyone present.
All trainers actively contributed to the successful conduct of the programme and joined in serving milk Prashad to the trainees and members of the local community, reflecting the values of service and humility. The event concluded with the collective chanting of “Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh,” followed by the distribution of milk mixed with almonds and cashews as Prashad.
The remembrance programme was conducted smoothly and with great devotion, leaving a deep and lasting impression on all participants. Through this meaningful observance, the Don Bosco Tech Jalandhar Centre community paid heartfelt homage to the Chaar Sahibzadas and carried forward the legacy of sacrifice, faith, and courage that continues to inspire generations. The event truly became a memorable moment of learning, reflection, and spiritual enrichment for trainers and trainees alike.
