Exposure Visit of Multi Skill Technician (Electrical) Trainees

An Exposure Visit for the Multi Skill Technician (Electrical) trainees was organized at the Thakurmunda Electrical Substation on 6th August 2026 under the guidance of Mr. Abhimanyu Behera, Domain Trainer, and Ms. Ranjita Maji, Support Domain Trainer. The main objective of the visit was to provide the trainees with practical exposure to electrical systems and help them understand the real working environment of the electrical industry.
On arrival, the trainees and trainers were warmly welcomed by Er. Gangadhar Hansda, Junior Engineer, Thakurmunda Electrical Substation. He introduced the trainees to the substation, its functions, and the importance of maintaining a safe and reliable power supply.
During the visit, Er. Gangadhar Hansda explained the basic operations of the electrical substation, different electrical equipment, safety measures, and the procedures followed in power distribution. The trainees observed various electrical tools, equipment, and systems used in daily operations and learned how theoretical concepts are applied in real workplace situations.
He also highlighted the importance of workplace safety, proper handling of electrical equipment, and following standard operating procedures while carrying out electrical work. In addition, he encouraged the trainees to continuously improve their technical skills and explore employment as well as self-employment opportunities in the electrical sector.
The trainees actively participated throughout the visit by observing the work process, asking questions, and interacting with the industry expert. The exposure visit enabled them to:
- Understand the basic functions of an electrical substation.
- Gain practical knowledge of electrical equipment and power distribution systems.
- Learn about workplace safety standards and safe working practices.
- Improve their confidence in using electrical tools and testing equipment.
- Explore career and self-employment opportunities in the electrical sector.
At the end of the visit, the trainees and faculty members expressed their sincere gratitude to Er. Gangadhar Hansda and the team at Thakurmunda Electrical Substation for their warm hospitality and valuable guidance.
