Report of Placement Orientation
On 24th January 2025, Don Bosco Tech, Chandigarh, organized a placement orientation session for its students, conducted by Amar Ujala Limited. The session was led by Mr. Pratap Singh, Senior Officer at SPMD.
The event commenced with an introduction to the company, followed by a detailed overview of its placement process. Placement, in this context, focuses on guiding students and job seekers toward suitable internships or employment opportunities. Approximately 30 to 35 students attended the session.Mr. Singh elaborated on Amar Ujala's recruitment process, which comprises several stages aimed at evaluating a candidate’s suitability for various roles. The process began with an initial screening of resumes to shortlist applicants based on their qualifications and relevant experiences. Shortlisted candidates then underwent technical assessments designed to test their journalism aptitude, writing proficiency, understanding of digital media, and other role-specific skills.Following the technical round, behavioral interviews were conducted to assess soft skills such as communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability. These interviews provided a deeper understanding of the candidates’ personalities and their potential alignment with Amar Ujala’s work culture.Mr. Singh also highlighted several challenges typically encountered during the placement process, such as fluctuating market conditions and skill mismatches between candidates and job requirements.
The final stage of the process involved a comprehensive evaluation of all prior assessments to determine each candidate's overall suitability for a position within the organization. Through this structured and rigorous approach, Mr. Pratap Singh ensured that candidates were thoroughly evaluated in alignment with Amar Ujala’s expectations and organizational needs.
